Employability
We work with our local communities’ members in the Handsworth area, working with 19 plus adults, that have been affected by COVID -19, mainly effected by reduced hours, or furloughed, made redundant or unemployed, the project will help individuals to gain new skills to help improve their chances of working towards gaining employment, becoming self-employed or obtaining work experience by becoming a volunteer
Reaching Out
We will look at helping those to improve their skills in English and Maths, from learning that fits around them, by joining classes weekly, whether this in evening, day, or weekends. We will look at what current skills they and adapt an asset-based approach which will look at the positive rather than negatives of why they cannot apply for the job, set up their business or gaining work experience by volunteering. Covid – 19, has had an impact on people’s mental health, so alongside the workshops we will introduce early interventions that support the individual with their health and wellbeing, we will do this by working on a 1-2-1 basis or group working. Everyday life has been affected it is clear people need to become digital aware, by using free online courses for beginners, helping you develop digital skills to make the most of the online world.
